Ukrainian, Dutch defense chiefs talk F-16 coalition, military cooperation

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed with his Dutch counterpart Kajsa Ollongren during the latter’s visit to Ukraine her country’s participation in the F-16 coalition for Ukraine and bilateral military cooperation.

"F-16s, military cooperation, and the involvement of support in the development of Ukrainian defense enterprises—these were the topics of negotiations with the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, during her visit to Ukraine," Umerov noted.

According to him, “Kajsa is a frequent and welcome guest in Kyiv, which emphasizes the important role of the Netherlands in providing assistance to Ukraine in the fight against russian aggression. I am sincerely grateful to her and the Dutch people for their support!" added the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

During the meeting, the two defense chiefs discussed in detail possible ways for the Netherlands to participate in the procurement of weapons for Ukrainian military needs, and considered options for cooperation in the field of defense production based in Ukraine, Umerov reported.

"Ukrainian arms manufacturers have a lot of capabilities—I called on our partners to finance the production of weapons in Ukraine," the minister noted.

According to him, special attention was paid to the F-16 initiative: “The F-16s coalition is one of the most effective, and we are grateful to the Netherlands for its co-leadership. We are doing everything possible to ensure that jets, pilots, and bases are ready for battle as soon as possible.”

"The Dutch delegation was informed about the current situation at the front and Ukraine's military needs. The Netherlands is one of the leaders of the Czech initiative to purchase 155 mm shells for the Ukrainian army. Thank you for your support!" Umerov added.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, arrived on a visit to Ukraine.
