Defense support involving lethal weapons systems, modern air defense systems, and uninterrupted supply of missiles and ammunition is critical for Ukraine.

Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, issued the relevant statement via Telegram following the NATO summit in Washington, Ukrinform reports.

"The 75th NATO Washington Summit. A strong visit by the President and his team," wrote Sirskyi.

According to the top commander, "complex diplomatic work is underway to rally international support for Ukraine on the irreversible path to membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization."

"We have clear commitments from partner countries. A comprehensive document on support for Ukraine called the Ukraine Compact has been signed. The powerful collective agreement became another element of Ukraine's ‘bridge’ to NATO, in particular from the point of view of military and military-technical integration. The military component of practical cooperation with the Alliance will be significantly strengthened," the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.

He noted that "it is critical for us to have Ukraine supported by lethal weapons systems, modern air defense systems, stable and uninterrupted supply of missiles and ammunition."

"We are grateful to the allies for their clear stance condemning Russia and those who help the terrorist state wage war," added Syrskyi.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine took part in the 75th anniversary NATO summit in Washington. At the end of the event, the Ukraine Compact was adopted, which supplemented the G7 Joint Declaration agreed at the previous NATO summit in Vilnius.
