PM Honcharuk: Ukraine to receive IMF tranche in a few months

Ukrinform
Ukraine will receive a new tranche from the International Monetary Fund in a few months, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk said in an interview with Ukraine 24 TV channel.

According to him, nothing hinders receipt of funds from the IMF.

“This is absolutely technical work that is currently underway. This is a matter of months. I have no doubt that we will finish this technical work and there will be no problems,” the Prime Minister said.

IMF is being very "demonized" through the oligarchic media, Honcharuk stressed.

“There are a lot of rumors that they [IMF] exhaust all resources. In fact, cooperation with the IMF is about trust, it's about cheap resources... It is strategically important for us to get such a long-term program with the IMF, because it is a very reputable world organization and it is a signal to investors that they can enter Ukraine. On the other hand, it is an opportunity to have cheap resources,” he said.

The National Bank of Ukraine believes that a new program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund may be signed in the first quarter of 2020. The program will be concluded for a three-year period, totaling SDR 4 billion, or $5.5 billion.
