Ukraine spends over UAH 26B on fight against COVID-19 in H1 2021
In particular, UAH 9.8 billion was spent to pay health care facilities for inpatient medical care and vaccination services under the medical guarantees program, UAH 9.3 billion to purchase COVID-19 vaccines, and UAH 1.8 billion to purchase goods and services to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (excluding vaccines), including UAH 1.4 billion from local budgets. UAH 2.9 billion was spent on measures to provide social support to the population amid quarantine, and UAH 0.8 billion was spent on the payment of financial support in connection with a temporary disability (sick leave).
As of the end of June 2021, contracts were signed for the supply of 37.3 million doses of vaccines from the state budget, including 20 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, ten million doses of the Novavax vaccine, 5.3 million doses of the Sinovac Biotech vaccine, and two million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
In addition, 1.9 million doses of the vaccine produced by Sinovac Biotech (China) were purchased using 2020 budget funds.
In total, 5.1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to Ukraine in the first six months of 2021: 1.9 million doses of the Sinovac Biotech vaccine, 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca, and 1.6 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech.
