Ukrenergo will buy electricity in advance from businesses that will build distributed generation - Kudrytskyi
The company's Chairman of the Board Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said this in an interview with Suspilne, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukrenergo will buy power system balancing services from new power plants for 5 years. We will sign contracts with power plants that have not yet been built for 5 years in advance. We will be obliged to buy their balancing services at a price determined at an auction," Kudrytskyi said.
He announced that the first such auction for ancillary services for investors who are ready to build decentralised generation in Ukraine will take place in a few weeks.
"I really hope that the volume of participants in this auction will be close to the 1 GW that is much talked about," said the CEO of Ukrenergo.
He explained that having such a long-term contract, investors can get a loan for the construction of generation and, accordingly, will be able to calculate their financial investment models for 5 years ahead.
As reported, according to Ukrenergo, the Ukrainian power system needs 5-6 GW of different types of generation, for the development of which businesses must have access to credit financing.
