30,000 people evacuated in Germany due to World War II bomb
According to Ukrinform, dpa reported this, citing a local police statement.
According to a police spokesperson, the 1,800-kilogram bomb is scheduled to be defused later today; authorities are currently verifying that all residents have left the evacuation zone.
The HC-4000 bomb was found during construction work in the eastern part of the city, which is located about 40 kilometers from Stuttgart.
According to officials, the bomb contains about 1,350 kilograms of explosive material.
Although city authorities stated on Friday that the bomb does not pose an “immediate danger to the public,” a 1.5-kilometer exclusion zone has been established in the city as firefighters, police, and bomb disposal experts prepare to defuse it.
As reported by Ukrinform, last November in Nuremberg, Germany, 21,000 people had to be evacuated due to the discovery of a World War II aerial bomb.
