Fake from Nigeria: Olena Zelenska ‘bought’ over a million dollars worth of jewellery in New York
The Kremlin state media published information claiming that First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, while visiting the USA, allegedly purchased over a million dollars worth of jewellery from a Cartier boutique in New York.
The source of the "news" was the site of The Nation Nigerian newspaper which refers to an Instagram story of an alleged store employee who was fired at the request of Olena Zelenska.
As proof, this "ex-employee" of a New York boutique shows a copy of Olena Zelenska’s jewellery receipt.
This is fake. The receipt is dated September 22, 2023. On this day, Olena Zelenska was in Ottawa, not in New York. In addition, the day before in Washington, D.C., she visited Georgetown University and met with First Lady of the United States Jill Biden.
The Instagram account of the "dismissed sales employee" does not contain a single post, there are neither followers nor a following list.
Its only content is a story with a fake receipt and a photo of the Cartier boutique that appeared on the Internet in 2014.
Earlier, Russian propaganda created a fake about Olena Zelenska's Israeli passport.
