Shmyhal reports to Zelensky on results of state program to cope with coronavirus crisis
This issue was discussed at a meeting of President Zelensky with representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers on July 13, the presidential press service reports.
"The most pressing issue on the agenda today, in my opinion, is assessing the results of the government's economic stimulation program to overcome the effects of the pandemic. We urgently need to revive the economy," Zelensky stressed.
At the meeting, the prime minister spoke about the three-year economic stimulation state program developed and approved by the government to overcome the negative consequences caused by quarantine measures. Shmyhal reminded that the Ukrainian authorities had adopted certain decisions to support various segments of the population during the quarantine, in particular to reduce administrative requirements for doing business, launching new infrastructure projects, as well as social protection of low-income citizens.
He has also noted that large-scale road construction is taking place in Ukraine for the first time since independence.
In turn, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has stressed that despite the decline in business activity, there are clear signals of overcoming the crisis. According to the minister, this is evidenced by the growth in revenues and financing of expenditures from the state budget. In particular, the plan on state budget revenues was fulfilled by 100% in May and by 105.5% in June, which was due to the effective work of the State Tax Service. In addition, customs service achieved its target indicators in June, Marchenko said.
