Slovenia considers Russia's recognition of two self-proclaimed entities in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to be a blatant violation of international law and believes that the European Union has to offer Ukraine a membership perspective.

“Russia’s recognition of the two separatist territories in Ukraine is a blatant violation of international law, the Budapest and Minsk agreements. Republic of Slovenia condemns this illegal move. The EU has to offer Ukraine a full membership perspective,” Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Janez Janša posted on Twitter.

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia Matej Tonin, wrote on Twitter that "Russia's actions move away from peace."

As reported, on February 21, the president of the Russian Federation signed decrees to "recognize" two self-proclaimed entities in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

Addressing Ukrainians, President Zelensky said that Ukraine unequivocally qualified the latest actions by the Russian Federation as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state. All responsibility for the consequences of these decisions rests with Russia.
