National Police Chief Klymenko to perform duties of Internal Affairs Minister
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Government has appointed Ihor Klymenko as Internal Affairs Deputy Minister - Head of the National Police of Ukraine. He was also entrusted with the performance of duties of the Minister of Internal Affairs. Upon discussions with Parliament, a proposal will be submitted to appoint the new head of the ministry,” Shmyhal wrote.
In his words, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is one of the key links in the country’s security. Thus, all the necessary protocols were put in action to maintain control over all processes.
A reminder that, on January 18, 2023, a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and residential building in the Kyiv region’s Brovary. Ukrainian Internal Affairs Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, First Deputy Minister Yevhenii Yenin and State Secretary of the Ukrainian Internal Affairs Ministry Yurii Lubkovych were among those killed.
According to the updated information, search and rescue operations were completed. Fourteen bodies of victims were found at the site, including one child and nine bodies of those who had been on board. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal instructed that a special working group be set up to investigate all the details of the tragic event.
