Stefanchuk arrives on visit to Vilnius
The speaker of the Ukrainian parliament announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"I have started a working visit to the Republic of Lithuania, where I will take part in the Summit of the heads of parliaments of NATO member states," he said.
Stefanchuk noted that he had already met with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė and told her about another Russian attack on Ukraine.
"Therefore, I called for further defence support for Ukraine. I thanked them for the assistance already provided," the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament stressed.
According to him, the issue of Ukraine's future membership in NATO was also raised during the conversation.
"We are aware that Ukraine cannot become a NATO member during the war. But in July, at the Vilnius summit, we expect to receive a clear signal, a decision to invite Ukraine to become a member of the Alliance," he said.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada called on Lithuania to further support Ukraine on this path.
"Today I am in Lithuania primarily to raise the issue of the Euro-Atlantic future at the parliamentary level," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, a summit of heads of parliaments of NATO member states will be held in Lithuania in the coming days.
