Shmyhal, Japan’s foreign minister discuss Ukraine’s recovery, nuclear safety

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"We continue to build strategic ties with Japan. On the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, I met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi," Shmyhal wrote.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Japanese Foreign Minister discuss the rapid reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as the priority of humanitarian demining.

Shmyhal also noted that the Russian terrorist attack at the Kakhovka HPP is one of the biggest environmental disasters in Europe.

In this context, nuclear safety and the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP are also important. Russia has turned the ZNPP into a military facility that threatens not only Ukraine, but also the entire world, the Ukrainian Prime Minister stressed.

"In response, we have to strengthen sanctions against Russia’s nuclear industry, and we expect Japan will help us in this matter. Especially considering the fact that the country is chairing the G7," Shmyhal said.

He thanked his Japanese colleague for financial support to Ukraine and active participation in the "financial Ramstein" meetings.

As reported, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is participating in the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London. The event will allow coordinating the efforts of the government of Ukraine, the European Commission and other international partners for Ukraine’s rapid recovery that will begin even before the end of the war.
