Seoul eyeing international talks on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia
That’s according to Yonhap referring to diplomatic sources, Ukrinform reports.
The Korean government is looking into deploying a high-ranking official from the National Security Office under the President of the Republic to a meeting in Jeddah.
Observers say that Seoul's participation in the negotiations may indicate its growing diplomatic involvement in the Ukraine issue.
The outlet recalls that last month, during a visit to Kyiv, South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol met with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, saying that Korea will provide a package of assistance in the field of security, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction within the framework of the Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative.
Under the initiative, South Korea will encourage key developing nations to participate in the Peace Formula Summit aimed at developing approaches to implementing a 10-point Peace Formula, put forward by Zelensky, which involves, among other things, the full withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the second meeting at the level of national security advisers and political directors regarding the key peace principles based on Zelensky’s Peace Formula will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on August 5-6.
