Russia employs allied Belarus for joint nuclear intimidation of Europe

Ukrinform
Russia is trying to raise the stakes in intimidating Europe by engaging Belarus in its ongoing nuclear blackmail.

That’s according to Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, Ukrinform reports.

Belarusian Minister of Defense Viktor Hrenin announced his participation in the second stage of an exercise, initiated by the Russian military, on the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. He complained about "aggressive attacks" from the West, assuring that Belarus is prepared to respond to these "threats" jointly with the Russian Federation.

The statement is part of Russia’s wider campaign of nuclear blackmail, aiming to intimidate Ukraine's partners and influence decision-making regarding further support for the war-torn nation.

The permission to use Western weapons against targets on Russian soil proved that Moscow's nuclear blackmail had failed to achieve its goals. The fact that the Kremlin’s tantrum continues regardless suggests that Russia has no other plan to this end.

The CCD emphasizes that, for its part, Belarus fulfills Moscow's whims in order to obtain preferences in response to efforts to destabilize Europe. It is not only about nuclear threats, but also about an artificial migration crisis and participation in an information war against Ukraine.

As reported, the CCD previously warned that Russian propaganda is spreading manipulation around power outages across Ukraine in order to divide Ukrainians and destabilize the country from within.
