President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that more countries would join the joint communiqué on the foundations of peace.

He said this at a press conference in Switzerland, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The communiqué is open. And some countries are now thinking about joining, they have relevant consultations at their homes... There are different countries with different opinions, and we must respect the opinion of all of them, if only they are not occupiers... And therefore, the potential number (of countries that will join the joint commission - ed.) will increase," Zelensky said.

He also expects that the countries that were not represented at the Summit will also join the joint communiqué.

According to the President, the number of countries that have already joined is "a very serious result." "I think it is very successful," he added.

Regarding the countries that have not joined the communiqué, Zelensky noted: "They have their view of the war in Ukraine. It is very difficult for them. The long influence of the Soviet Union on relations, on relations with these people - all this has an impact.”

As reported, the first Peace Summit was taking place in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock on June 15-16. It discusses nuclear security, food security, and the humanitarian dimension - the exchange of prisoners and the return of abducted Ukrainian children. The results of the summit will be handed over to Russia.

In a joint communiqué, the participants of the Peace Summit stressed the inadmissibility of the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the inadmissibility of using food security as a weapon and stated the need for a full exchange of prisoners of war.
