South Korea at Peace Summit commits to continue supporting Ukraine

At the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, South Korea expressed readiness to continue providing aid to war-torn Ukraine.

That’s according to Yonhap citing the government press service, Ukrinform reports.

"As a global pivotal state, South Korea has continued to express its firm support and solidarity with Ukraine, and provided aid in various areas as part of the Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative announced by President Yoon Suk Yeol during his trip to Ukraine last July," said the head of Seoul's delegation, Government Policy Coordination Minister Bang Ki-seon.

According to the official South Korea has been helping Ukraine to enhance farming capabilities and increase the export of Ukrainian grain to developing countries experiencing a food crisis amid the Russian war’s impact on grain production and exports.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Korean minister held talks with representatives from other countries participating in the summit, including Germany, Portugal, and Mexico, on ways to strengthen cooperation for peace and reconstruction in Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Viola Amherd of Switzerland told a press conference following the inaugural Peace Summit in Bürgenstock that nearly 80 of the 90 countries present at the event either signed or co-authored a joint communique, calling this a good result.
