Blinken to Kuleba: NATO’s door remains resolutely open
This was reported by Ukrinform's own correspondent.
"Dmytro, our door remains resolutely open, and we look forward to that day as well,” said Antony Blinken.
According to him, the summit “has made absolutely clear that – as the people of Ukraine continue to sacrifice immeasurably to defend their territory and their right to choose their own path – NATO will do everything possible to ensure Ukraine’s long-term success.”
It is, in particular, about the "strong bridge that we’ve built to membership", added the head of the State Department.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Joane, speaking to the ministers, also addressed Kuleba personally, noting that the mission of his life and my career was to bring Romania to NATO, and that he is a living proof that, if someone is truly determined to realize their dreams, shares NATO’s values of freedom, dignity, the rule of law and democracy, they belong to this family and one day they will become part of it.
He expressed firm belief that this will eventually happen and thanked Ukraine for everything the nation does for the Alliance.
During the lunch, the Ukrinform correspondent asked Estonia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kyllike Sillaste-Elling of her opinion about the leitmotif of the summit. She noted that it is “Ukraine and everything about Ukraine, at least for us” as NATO is doing everything it can to support Ukraine.
After this summit, she believes, aid will be even more active, which should lead to Ukraine’s victory.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Washington is hosting the NATO summit on July 9-11, where the Ukrainian delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelensky is also participating.
