Kamala Harris entering presidential race after endorsement from Biden
That’s according to a statement by President Biden’s campaign team, seen by Politico, Ukrinform reports.
“I am honored to have the president’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,” Harris said. “Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead.”
Politico suggests that in most areas, Harris would likely continue many of President Joe Biden’s foreign policy objectives.
“A Harris administration would probably offer strong support for Ukraine’s war effort, and continue initiatives to deepen alliances in Asia and the Pacific in the face of China’s geopolitical ascendance. And she would likely still see the U.S. provide robust support to Israel and other allies in the Middle East,” the report notes, adding that Harris has sounded more sympathetic to the plight of Palestinians regarding Israel’s war on Hamas.
The Democratic nomination for the president’s post is yet to be approved at the party’s national convention that will take place in August.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race, just months before the election, scheduled for November 5.
