The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was astonished to hear Russia invited former top diplomat Karin Kneissl, who is now a regular guest on Russia’s RT propaganda channel, to speak at the UN Security Council as an "expert".

That’s according to the spokeswoman for the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Claudia Türtscher, who gave an exclusive comment to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“It seems that the silly season has also arrived in Russia. There is no other explanation why a frequent guest on Russia Today and similar channels is addressing the UN Security Council as a so-called ‘expert,’” Türtscher told Ukrinform.

Karin Kneissl is an Austrian Freedom Party politician known for her pro-Russian stance and close ties with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, with whom she was seen dancing at her wedding. After resigning from a government post, Kneissl decided to move to Russia, where she was actively exploited for Moscow’s propaganda purposes.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Thursday, the UN Security Council is to meet on Russia’s initiative to discuss weapons’ supplies to Ukraine. Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, said the representatives from the aggressor state sought to engage the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Karin Kneissl, in promoting their mainstream lies.
