“We see a future of the UK and Ukraine – two flags here – as future NATO allies, and we see Ukraine as an essential partner for the UK in defending against future threats to Euro-Atlantic security,” the ambassador emphasized.

The diplomat also noted Britain's interest in Ukraine's military-industrial complex, in particular high-tech defense developments.

“You’ve spoken of some hi-tech systems that we’ve provided to Ukraine but what we’ve also seen is the hi-tech systems that Ukraine itself is developing. And increasingly, we’re seeing British defence companies engaging with their Ukrainian counterparts because we see a common interest in developing those capabilities together and using them in the future to defend the security of Europe,” the British ambassador said.

He emphasized the UK's position that NATO is the foundation of security in Europe, adding that in his view the United States remains committed to the Euro-Atlantic alliance, thus dismissing doubts that the new administration in Washington might abandon the idea of collective security.

As reported, Belgian Ambassador to Ukraine Luc Jacobs said in an interview with Ukrinform that leading companies of the Belgian military-industrial complex are actively establishing ties with Ukrainian partners and are making progress in preparing joint production.
