EIB planning to provide over EUR 1B to restore critical infrastructure, support businesses in Ukraine
EIB President of Nadia Calviño said this ahead of the conference in Berlin, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
In her words, at the meeting in Berlin, she will sign agreements on new financing to mobilize more than EUR 1 billion to support small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, to restore critical infrastructure in Ukrainian cities, such as hospitals, kindergartens, schools, water supply.
She added that the bank plans to introduce the European Union's advisory services program in Ukraine.
The EIB President recalled that since the war began, the EIB had allocated more than EUR 2 billion to restore damaged infrastructure in the energy and transport sectors, as well as border crossings.
She also stressed that the EIB would continue to support Ukraine. The EIB “is one of Ukraine's key investment partners now," she added, expressing hope that the bank would soon be involved in the country's post-war reconstruction.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ukraine Recovery Conference starts in Berlin with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
