Norway will allocate a EUR 250 million aid package to restore destroyed energy facilities and build a modern energy infrastructure.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Today we have announced a EUR 250 million support package specifically for energy infrastructure. And here we are working with the Ukrainian authorities, with international partners both to repair what has been destroyed and to help build a new modern energy infrastructure for the 21st century, which is more sustainable, more extensive,” he said.

Eide also announced that his country would provide a separate winter support package for the energy sector, which includes, for example, buildings insulation. “We are working with key partners on this front,” the minister emphasized.

According to him, Norway has allocated EUR 2.3 billion to Ukraine this year alone, which is a powerful signal of support for Ukraine.

“We guarantee that you will receive the support you require. As long as the war lasts, we will support you. Once the war is won in favor of Ukraine, we will participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine,” the Norwegian Foreign Minister said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on October 16, the foreign ministers of Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia and Denmark arrived in Odesa (NB8). At a meeting with their Ukrainian counterparts, they discussed strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and energy resilience ahead of winter and President Volodymyr Zelensky's Victory Plan.
