Number of Ukrainians killed in war is much less than 80,000 - Zelensky

The number of Ukrainians killed in the war since the beginning of the full-scale invasion is much less than 80,000.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to an interview with the President of Ukraine to Kyodo News.

“Someone recently reported in the American press that 80 thousand Ukrainians died. But I want to tell you that no, it is less. Much less,” Zelensky said.

However, he refused to specify the number of dead Ukrainian soldiers.

In addition, the President added that it is not known for certain how many Ukrainians died in the temporarily occupied territories.

“During the occupation, there were civilians, military, law enforcement, etc. And I don't know how many of them died, how many were lost, how many were tortured in captivity, etc. That is why I am only talking about recording the military that are on our territory, controlled by us,” the president added.

As reported by Ukrinform, the President said that the recent personnel changes in the Armed Forces of Ukraine “are not the last”.
