EU allocates €54 mln to support Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Fund

The European Union provides the second tranche of financial assistance to the tune of EUR 54 million to support the activity of the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Fund.

“The European Union provides the second tranche of financial assistance to the tune of EUR 54 million to support the activity of the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Fund. These funds are added to the first tranche worth EUR 50 million that Ukraine received from the EU for the Fund’s activity in June. This is evidence of trust of our European partners and progress of the energy efficiency reform, which we have been implementing for three years already by fulfilling the European directives on energy efficiency. It is the first such large-scale project of cooperation with the EU in the region," the press service of the Regional Development Ministry of Ukraine reports.

The agreement on funding of the Energy Efficiency Support Programme for Ukraine (EE4U-II) was signed by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko and EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

“EU’s support is aimed at implementing the programs within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Fund. It includes the provision of non-refundable grants to the apartment building co-owners associations for taking energy efficiency measures, technical support for the apartment building co-owners associations in preparation of applications to the Fund. We also agreed on the assistance from our German partners in training of the energy auditors who will work in all the regions of Ukraine,” Zubko explained.
