Parliament endorses law on mandatory share of biofuels in transport sector

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, has approved law No. 3356-d in its entirety on the mandatory share of liquid biofuels (biocomponents) in the transport sector.

Yaroslav Zhelezniak, an MP from the Holos Party, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, 235 MPs voted for the bill at second reading.

According to the document, starting from May 1, 2025, the mandatory share of biofuels in gasoline must be at least 5%. This refers to the use of biobutanol, biogas, biodiesel, bioethanol, biohydrogen, etc.

As reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada approved at first reading draft law No. 11256-2 on amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding the implementation of the provisions of the European Union's excise tax. The document provides for a gradual increase in fuel excise taxes from July 1, 2024, to January 1, 2028.
