Zelensky to meet with Pope in Italy tomorrow
On Friday, Pope Francis and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will meet during the Group of Seven summit in Italy.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Vatican News with reference to the Vatican press service.
According to the programme of the visit, the Pope will travel to Borgo Eniazia in the Puglia region on Friday at 11:00 a.m. local time, where the G7 summit will be held. He will be met there by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The Pontiff will hold bilateral talks with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, IMF Director-General Kristalina Georgieva, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Later, the Pope will join the participants in an open session where he will deliver a speech and listen to the speeches of other guests.
After that, the second series of bilateral talks is scheduled, namely with Kenyan President William Ruto, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboun.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the G7 leaders' summit will be held on 13-14 June in Italy, which holds the presidency of the Group of Seven this year.
