Zelensky: Russia already trying to twist agreements on day of talks

On the very day of the negotiations, the Russian side has already demonstrated manipulative attempts to twist the agreements reached in Saudi Arabia.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening video address to the nation on Tuesday, March 25, Ukrinform reports.

"Unfortunately, already now, just today, on the very day of the negotiations, we see how the Russians have already started to manipulate. They are already trying to twist the agreements and actually deceive both our mediators and the whole world. There are absolutely clear statements published by the White House. Everyone can see what is stated there. And there is something that the Kremlin is lying about again: that supposedly silence in the Black Sea depends on the issue of sanctions and that supposedly the date for the start of ‘silence’ on energy is March 18. Moscow always lies. And it depends on the world – on everyone who really needs peace – whether they will allow Moscow to lie again," Zelensky said.

The president emphasized that Ukraine will do everything to make the agreements work.

"But the Russians should know and realize: if they attack, they will receive a strong rebuff. And they will be responsible. And if the Russians then tell stories that the strikes were not on energy or civil infrastructure, everyone will see everything," Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Kremlin said that the agreement on the security of navigation in the Black Sea will come into force only after some restrictions against Russia are lifted.

Earlier, the White House published a statement on the outcome of the negotiations between the American and Ukrainian delegations in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Washington and Kyiv agreed to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea.

The United States and Ukraine also agreed to develop measures to implement the agreements between Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky on the prohibition of strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine.
