The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct a defensive operation in the southern, eastern and northern areas.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on Facebook.

"Day 18 of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to the Russian military invasion continues. The defense forces continue to conduct a defensive operation in the southern, eastern and northern areas. Defensive battles are ongoing, the state border of Ukraine and the sea coast of the state are being covered. A stabilization operation is being carried out in some areas and territorial defense tasks are being performed," the statement reads.

The Ukrainian Air Force repels the enemy's missile and air strikes and protects Ukraine's critical infrastructure and groups of troops from the air.

Today, the enemy focused its main efforts on advancing on the city of Kryvyi Rih and capturing the city of Mykolaiv. Attempts are also being made to take control of Mariupol.

In addition, the occupiers continue to accumulate reserves for the attack on Vuhledar and carry out artillery strikes on residential areas of the city.

According to the General Staff, the enemy's naval group remains in combat readiness in the Black Sea in order to launch strikes on Ukrainian territory.

In violation of international humanitarian law, the occupiers continue to take civilians hostage, drop bombs and launch artillery strikes on densely populated neighborhoods, schools and kindergartens, looting the local population.

According to available information, the enemy is intensifying activities to carry out acts of sabotage on the routes of convoys carrying humanitarian and military aid.

The press service of the General Staff once again called on citizens to trust only verified sources of information and remain calm.
