Russia keeps trying to dislodge Ukraine’s units from bridgeheads on Dnipro’s eastern bank - General Staff

That’s according to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

"The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult. Over this day, 65 combat clashes has taken place. The enemy launched two missile attacks and 18 airstrikes, as well as fired off 49 rocket salvos, at the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civil infrastructure were either destroyed or damaged," the report says.

Volyn and Polissia axes: the situation underwent no significant changes. No signs of an enemy offensive grouping being formed were spotted.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the enemy maintains military presence in the border areas, going on sabotage and reconnaissance missions and striking populated areas from Russian territory.

A Russian airstrike hit the area of Komisarove, Kharkiv region. More than 25 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling, including Znob-Trubchevska, Marchykhina Buda, Zarutske, Pavlivka, Zapsillia, Novodmytrivka, and Popivka of Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, and Budarky, Kharkiv region.

Kupiansk direction: Ukraine’s’ defenders repelled five attacks near Synkivka in Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense lones. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove in Kharkiv region.

Lyman area: Ukrainian soldiers repelled two attacks near Torske, Donetsk region, and two more – near Makiivka, Luhansk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Serebryanske Forestry in Luhansk region, Terny and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar strikes, among them Nevske of Luhansk region and Terny, Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka of Donetsk region.

Bakhmut direction: defense forces repelled seven attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivka, and Andriivka of Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position. The enemy launched an airstrike in the Druzhkivka area of Donetsk region. Some 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka of Donetsk region.

Avdiivka direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and four more attacks in the Pervomaiske and Nevelske areas, Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense lines. A Russian airstrike targeted the area near Avdiivka. About 10 settlements, including Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, and Severne of Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortars.

Marinka sector: the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Heorhiivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. The enemy failed in trying to improve their tactical position 20 times. The enemy also carried out airstrikes in the areas of Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka of Donetsk region. The settlements of Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka came under artillery and mortar fire.

Shakhtarske direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled six attacks southeast of Vodiane, Zolota Nyva, and west of Staromaiorske, Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske of Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortars.

Zaporizhzhia axis: the Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks southeast of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements, including Malynivka, Chervone, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Pyatykhatki of Zaporizhzhia region, were hit by artillery and mortars.

Kherson direction: the enemy carried out an airstrike in the area of Stavky, Mykolaiv region. Such settlements in Kherson region as Lvove, Tiahynka, and Ivanivka came under artillery and mortar fire.

The press service emphasized that the enemy does not give up its intention to knock out the Ukrainian units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro. During the day, the enemy carried out six unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops.

During the day, Ukraine’s missile forces hit an enemy manpower cluster.

As reported earlier, Ukraine eliminated about 379,610 Russian invaders between February 24, 2022 and January 25, 2024, including 950 in the past 24 hours.

In addition, Ukraine's defense forces destroyed 6,257 (+30) enemy tanks, 11,621 (+42) armored fighting vehicles, 9,067 (+59) artillery systems, 972 (+1) multiple rocket launchers, 660 (+1) air defense systems, 331 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 7,033 (+35) tactical unmanned aerial systems, 1,844 (+2) cruise missiles, 23 warships/cutters, a submarine, 12,044 (+39) trucks and fuel tankers, and 1,420 (+4) units of specialized equipment.
