Ukraine to receive $454M from World Bank for healthcare development - PM

The World Bank will provide Ukraine with $454 million as part of the THRIVE project, aimed at assisting in reforming the nation’s healthcare system.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on X, Ukrinform reports.

According to the government chief, this will “support the government's efforts to prioritize funding under the health guarantee program”.

“The funds will be provided under the THRIVE project, which aims to help reform the healthcare system and strengthen its capacity in times of war,” he wrote.

The program is financed with the help of the Government of Japan, the World Bank, as well as a grant from the URTF fund, Shmyhal noted.

THRIVE is part of the large-scale international support to Ukraine, which also covers education, transport, energy, agriculture, and other sectors that have been affected by Russian aggression, the Prime Minister emphasized.

He thanked the World Bank leadership, the Japanese government, and other partners for their important support.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, during the meeting between the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and World Bank Vice President Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani, the parties noted that Ukraine and the World Bank intend to continue cooperation into 2025, focusing on entrepreneurship and mortgage programs, and support for regional development.
