Zelensky visits Ukraine's first underground advanced surgical team in Zaporizhzhia region

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has visited Ukraine's first underground advanced surgical group in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region.

The head of state shared details of the visit on his official Telegram channel, according to Ukrinform.

"I visited Ukraine's first underground advanced surgical team. This hospital has already saved over 1,000 lives. Here, medical professionals receive wounded soldiers directly from the battlefield and provide them with medical care. I personally thanked our medical workers and presented them with awards. I thank them for their service and for saving the lives of our defenders," Zelensky noted.

According to the president's website, the underground hospital spans 500 square meters and is equipped to handle up to 200 patients daily. The facility boasts state-of-the-art medical equipment and provisions to support the medical staff. It serves as a critical point for stabilizing wounded soldiers' conditions and can perform up to four surgeries simultaneously.

During his visit, Zelensky inspected the surgical and intensive care units, reviewed the equipment, and assessed the living and working conditions of the staff.
