Engineering munitions killed 1,099 Russian invaders in May, military reports

Ukrinform
In May, more than a thousand Russian invaders were killed by engineering munitions.

This was reported to Ukrinform by Maksym Kravchuk, spokesperson for the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, the Engineering Troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Support Forces are systematically reinforcing engineering barriers, using unmanned systems for remote mining.

In May 2026, 1,099 invaders, 119 pieces of weaponry and military equipment, and 36 other targets were destroyed by engineering barriers installed by all engineering units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Mining is carried out both directly in front of the front line and deep within territory temporarily occupied by the enemy. This approach yields clear results: during offensive operations, the Russians lose a significant amount of equipment and about a thousand personnel every month.

Modern technologies are significantly changing the approach to engineering tasks. Remote-mining units using unmanned aerial vehicles and ground-based robotic systems effectively block enemy advance routes, create new lines of engineering obstacles, and inflict significant losses, Kravchuk emphasized.

Thanks to the use of unmanned systems, mining operations are carried out faster, more accurately, and more safely for personnel. All confirmed results are recorded in real time and entered into the Delta situational awareness system, which ensures the objectivity and reliability of the data, added the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Armed Forces Support Forces Command.

As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022, to June 15, 2026, amount to approximately 1,384,190 personnel.
