While visiting the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, President Volodymyr Zelensky assured that the sites damaged by the Russian strike will be restored.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, the president made this statement to journalists.

“We will do everything. Then [there will be] an expert assessment. The Minister of Culture is here. The necessary steps and expert assessments will be carried out; we will restore everything,” Zelensky said.

Today, the president, together with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, and Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna, visited the sites of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra damaged by the Russian strike.

The Cabinet of Ministers will allocate funds from the Reserve Fund to repair the damage caused by the Russian attack on the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

"The prime minister will now hold a government meeting to allocate ‘quick funds’ from the Reserve Fund (thank God we have it; lawmakers recently voted on budget amendments) to preserve as much as possible. Minister Klymenko [Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko] will coordinate everything. The main thing is to preserve what we have, and then [there will be] restoration work," Zelensky said.

The president called on the world not to remain silent in response to Russia’s attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and urged greater international cooperation to stop Russian aggression and protect human lives.

"It is important that the world does not remain silent in response to this latest act of Russian barbarism. This strike on the Lavra is an attack on the Christian community and on the cultural heritage of humanity. There can be no justification for this or for any other similar Russian attacks," he wrote in the social network X.

Zelensky emphasized that broader cooperation is needed to stop the war being waged by Russia, as well as stronger protection to save lives from Russian aggression.

As reported by Ukrinform, the international community is reacting to Russia’s “barbarism and contempt” following its strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
